Conversation at the Knight Camp

Post by Auron Warfield on Mon Mar 20, 2017 6:30 pm

Auron and Datura reach the Knight Encampment with Pierre's litter in tow. The each make a slight grunt as they place it on the ground in the center of camp. Auron takes a long look at the body of his friend, and feels a wave of sadness fall over him. Before he can properly react, however, he hears shouting from the direction of the inn - Asher has stormed out, and is heading their way.

He waits for her to get closer, and says: "That sounded intense. What happened?"

Asher marches her way into camp mumbling profanities under her breath

"I can't believe they way they treat us. Like were...evil or something. Like his death is a good thing. All we've ever done is protect this place."

As you take your long look at Pierre's body, you see a necklace or a silver dragon in flight and the necklace of the lizard the people from Cynevin, around his neck. And two other items on his armor.

"Hmm." Auron says to himself. "What're these?"
He moves down for a closer examination of the items on Pierre's armor.

Malva slowly catches up to Asher and the group,

Malva, catching her breath, but keeping a calm, even, unaccusing tone says "Guys... come on... I don't know much more than you do, but if you're going to be mad at the town, can you at least be come hear what happened first?"

(OOG: I'll put my speech in italics. Assume I'm writing it down.)
they're mad. They learned today that their friend is dear and were met with cheer and feasting. I don't approve of Datura's entry, but we were his brothers. We saw our friend leave to defuse a situation with the elves peacefully, and then saw him return as  corpse with only one of the four humans who left with them returning as they left. Their blood boils.

Asher storms into Aurons tent and starts gathering her things. She calls out from the tent

"They've made it clear! Elves can do what they want and get away with it, while we're punished for trying to keep this town out of harms way. Hell if I'm sticking around for a Faery(sp?) run town."

Auron turns his attention to Malva when he hears her speak. He tries to respond in an equally calm voice, but is noticeably struggling.
"I'm sorry, Mal, but I don't have any interest in hearing what they have to say right now. My friend is dead, for reasons that I'm pretty sure aren't justified. I need to see to that first and foremost. He was my brother."

"Judging from the way Asher came storming out of there, it sounds like the town isn't showing a whole lot of respect for him right now, and trust me when I say that you don't want me - or any of us, for that matter - around people like that at the moment. It'll only end badly."

He then turns his attention to his tent, which seems to be getting ransacked. "Oh boy."

"Asher, Pierre WILL come back. Do you want to be gone when that happens? Your friend, who sacrificed himself for this town, do you want all of his friends he stood to protect gone when he comes back?"

"Auron, that's true. Take all the time you need Asher, but please hear me when I say there is more to be seen before you consider leaving us for good"

Timmean approaches the camp, walking slowly, hands at his sides. As he reaches the edge he clears this throat to get everyone's attention.

"That, ah... that could have gone better. I'm sorry about this, but please, calm down. I know you think you're honouring Pierre, but believe me, you're not. You weren't there. So please, just... listen."

Re: Conversation at the Knight Camp

A short time later Gilmore makes his way towards the camp. He takes off his hat and holds against his chest  as he bows towards Pierre. He then takes a seat on a near by stump.

"Hear lies the noblest Holdfastian. Out of all the things that have come to fruition on their journey this surprises me the least. I know little of the faerie but I know enough. What I know much of is Pierre he is kind and gentle. He is full of compassion and cares deeply for the people of this world and of course his brothers in arms. But he is also strong knight and a valiant fighter who was the first to put his life on the line to protect the people of this town. Only this time, the line got cut. I am not just saying these words, I've seen it. When one of those constructs was attacking me I feared for my life and no one with my mark was anywhere to be found, it was Pierre who declined my enhancement in favour of giving to one of his allies who stood between me and the monstrosity. He saved mg life that day. And when rumor of the werewolf hit the town he was the first into the woods hunting it while everyone else was smoking and drinking. And when I was in the middle field with no voice and too weak to walk Pierre picked me up and carried me to safety while everyone else sat on the porch chatting. Now that's just my experience I'm sure the knights and the townsfolk have many more stories of that kind to tell. Now Pierre was taken to be judged by a God that for the murder of a member of a race that not only is it partial to but it created. I know i wasn't there but knowing Pierre I know that he believed he did the right thing and he would have staunchly asserted his actions and defended them and accepted the consequences. We cannot be angry with a bunch of small inconsequential beings like ourselves for the death of a man who was courageous enough to stand up to a God."

After waiting about a minute in silence Gilmore began tapping his drum again.

"The bravest fell, and the solemn bell
Rang mournfully and clear
For he who died that watertide
In the falling of the year.
And the world did gaze with deep amaze
At those fearless men, but few
Who bore the fight that freedom's light
Might shine through the foggy dew."

Malva, Pierre doesn't know who he is. This may be the time he doesn't come back. Do you not find it unusual how pleased they seemed? The fae transformed two of our people into creatures entirely loyal to them. Those actions are eerily similar to the old imperial woman's tactics.

"Every human who went came back dead or an elf. The only one who I'd truly trust to tell me what happened is cold and dead. And should he return...I can only pray that he'd be his regular old self."

She finishes grabbing all her things and pulls some parchment out of a book Auron has laying around. Pages scatter over his floor. She finds a quill and some inks and starts feverishly writing

"Why's the town have a problem with us mourning anyway? It seems like we can't do anything around here without everyone going into high alert. We're not exactly the type to get our hopes up over here. Theres a very real possibility hes gone for good. And even if hes not, its not exactly exciting to see your dead buddy laying in front of you."

She gets back to her writing and starts to mostly ignore further conversations

"Not all of us, Asher; you're forgetting Teek. She's still as human as ever. And I'm certain, I promise, Pierre will be back. There's nothing stopping his return. You can mourn, certainly, but don't stop everyone else from doing so as well. Pierre wanted to end this fighting. Don't force it to continue."

Timmean moves to block the trail, scowling now. "Why? You don't even know what happened yet. Your friend, our friend, will be back someday. I don't want that day to be marred by any more hostility. Please... sit. Listen. Cry. Honour him. And be there when he comes back. Because when he does, I plan on making sure nothing like this can ever happen to him again."

we died here, in defense of our home,Malva. We could defend ourselves. Pierre was slain by a creature that considers itself a God, but doesn't seem itself worthy to act like one. How can you be happy, Timmean? You've been changed in ways you likely don't understand. You aren't yourself anymore. You now pay homage to the very same creature that slew our friend, whether you want to or not.

And, while I don't doubt that you're saddened by his loss, master Timmean, I doubt the others care about it. Ashir is right. To them, we are considered dangerous and unwanted, Pierre included, regardless of our intentions. It iseems our place to deal with his body in the way he wished.

Volk seems to have appeared lying in the dirt, leaned up against the litter, if not for the wood wall of the litter Volk's head would be touching Pierr's. His hands are over his stomach, and he seems to be looking at the sky. He starts speaking as if to nobody.
"It seems your friends care very little about you, even though they claim to. You do make an excellent martyr, too bad your "friends" are not paying attention. Let's hope the people learn from there mistakes, I know you did. But I get it, holdfast owes you one, they will forget too soon, but I won't.

Teek comes running in, angry, shouting. "I'M HUMAN!" She whips off her bandana and tugs at her ears. "I'M HUMAN! I'M FUCKING HUMAN! I STARTED HUMAN AND I STAYED HUMAN! AND EVEN FAERIE DIDN'T TAKE THAT AWAY FROM ME!" She stares down Asher, face red with anger. "HERR! He sure as hell ain't an elf! Blue! Is NOT an elven skin tone!" Teek takes a deep breath in before continueing, "Pierre can come back. He hasn't died yet! This is the first time he has!" Teek quickly hits herself in the leg, "DAMMIT! I'm the psychic! I'm a psychic who can see more than anyone else! And no one's taking that into account! I've looked into his head TWICE! TWICE! He. Can. Come. Back."

"You don't trust this town? Why are you leaving your friends here then?"
