Phineas is preparing to go to Applevale

Phineas the Halfling is doing his best to clean up - sweep and mop - the tavern’s main room before he goes on a short trip to Applevale.  The damp wooden floor smells of ale-vinegar and the pine needles that Phineas used to infuse the cleaning solution. Finally, he looks around the place, nods to himself in satisfaction and settles in to enjoy a bowl of fish chowder that he has been keeping warm on the stovetop.

On the table near the stove he has assembled an extremely well-organized pack of trading goods, mostly the products of his Halfling skill in brewing, wine-making and distilling and, of course, his alchemical talents.

Phineas takes the time to write out a notice, pin it to the wall and continue his preparations.

Of course, he is always ready to discuss a business opportunity.

*Joy is in the inn. She hasn't gone on an expedition in a while, for the weather conditions have not been favorable for it*

*She is tapping her fingers quite loudly on the table. She has been doing this for a few minutes.*

"Doo doo do doo doo do doo doo doo do do do doo doo doo."

*Then she stops and looks at Phineas*

"Hey Phineas, how do you make beer?"

“How do I make beer? Well, my dear Joy,” states the Halfling with a smile. “As you can tell, I make beer extremely well!”

“Right now, I am getting ready for a quick trip to Applevale. However, when I get back, but I will be happy to take you on a tour of the basement and show you how I make the famous Pennefeather Pale Ale!”

"Phineas, it's turning autumn soon. It's going to get harder to go out into ze voods. I'm going to be bored out of my skull ven vintner comes. Can you teach me zome zings?"

[Phineas J. Pennefeather]

“Absolutely!” Phineas says enthusiastically. “What would you like to learn?”

*Joy stands up*

"I vould love to see your basement und your brewery! You know much I love drinking your beer und how you make eet. Vould you teach how to brew ale? Und mead? Und ozer zings maybe?"

*Joy looks at Phineas in anticipation*

[Pearrl]

Pearrl strolls in just in time to catch the last three snippets of conversation. "You're teaching brewing, Phineas?" she asks with interest. "How do you make that catnip brandy of yours?"

"I will be happy to teach both of you the fine arts of brewing and brandy making!" Phineas says. "It is certainly something that will make the long winter months a little more interesting..."

[Degren Brightforge]

Degren, sitting by the door, is sipping a frothing ale when he notices the small group forming. He suddenly starts, as if he'd just remembered something, then steps up and walks over to Phineas and the others, " I heard you're running down to applevale, Master Phineas. I was wondering, would you mind taking me along? I'm looking to find someone to teach me how to regrow arms and legs-- a skill that seems to be useful... sadly, everyone in town who knows the spell is an Elf, and incapable of teaching me."

"We might be able to find an Earth Mage high enough, in training, to teach you what you need in AppleVale," says the Halfling. "Maybe we'll run into the Wiz! I am sure that he could do it."

Phineas ponder the possibilities for a moment.

"Or we could do that ritual, the one that restored your voice, again, if you wish..."

[Degren Brightforge]

Degren let's off a subtle shiver, "I believe I'll use that ritual only as a last ditch effort. But thank you. I haven't seen the Wiz in quite some time, but if we're lucky, maybe we will. Tell me, does he require payment for his training?"

[Joy Rosewood]

"Zank you so much Phineas!"

*Joy runs over and hugs Phineas*

[Phineas J. Pennefeather]

"You are very welcome, Joy" says Phineas.

And then to Degren, Phineas responds.

"As far as I know, 'The Wiz' is all about being 'One with Lord Earth' - and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that - but he doesn't seem to be all that interested in material goods!" says Phineas. "But, let's face it, he isn't somebody that you can rely on being there when you need him but he probably wouldn't demand much in payment."
