A Hard Earned Break Part One: Food

Borin walks back into the inn, exhausted after a long night of firefighting. Laying his axe against the wall he sits down and shakes his head a couple of times in a less than successful attempt at getting the snow out of his beard. Realizing that everyone else came in right away he decides that after one ale... maybe two he would take it upon himself to make sure the fire was actually out this time especially seeing what happened after no one had done so the last time. Knowing his time of rest would be short lived he decides to make the best of it.

"Merryweather, I want two mugs o' ale and a couple o' taters"

Realizing that his halfling friend is in no condition to be serving people so he helps himself to two tankards of ale and mulls through phineas' vegetables to find a couple of the best looking potatoes and sits back down taking a chomp out of a potato and a gulp of ale.

The Halfling Innkeeper shakes the snow off of his clothes as he goes to his back room to change clothes.

A few moments later he emerges, changed and dressed to serve, apron on dressed to serve the population of the small community.

"Borin, let me add a bit of warm to your belly!" he says as he sets a big bowl of stew, thick from simmering a little too long over the fire, in front of the Dwarf.

From behind the counter, Phineas brings a small bottle and pours the Dwarf a glass of the precious good stuff.

"THere you go, my friend, a taste of a little Halfling Brandywine, to warm you up!"

[Timmean]

Brushing himself off, an exhausted Timmean tries to shake the rapidly-melting snow off before he gets too wet. He drops his bucket in a corner and pulls off his cloak, immediately hanging it on the nearest peg. He slowly trudges to the nearest bench and crumples into it, wishing he could get back to bed, but not wanting to brave the trip to the bunkhouse.

As the human walks in Borin notes that Timmean is much worse condition than he. As Tim sits down Borin rolls a potato and slide an ale across the table
"Here, have a tater, ye deserve it more than I, lad." the dwarf says.
Hearing a howl of wind outside the inn Borin realizes he may not have much time before the fire is out of control once more and knowing he may yet have a long night ahead of him he decides to get his energy up. He finishes his stew, potato and ale and fells much warmer inside and ready to go. He the grabs his axe and puts on his heavy cloak which was on one of the pegs but he completely forgot about it in the panic earlier.
"Thanks fer the stew Merryweather, you lot get some rest." He says as he heads out the door.

After putting a few extra logs on the fire, Phineas brings a bowl and a mug of warmed cider to Timmean.

"Eat and try to get warm, my friend!"

Then the Halfling brings a few blankets to help warm up the locals after fighting the fires!

[Timmean]

Timmean glances up and, despite his exhaustion, smiles.

"As crazy as things get here, let no one say there's a lack of hospitality. Thank you Borin; Phineas."

Leaning forward, Timmean slowly munches on the stew and potato. His energy is about gone after the fire-fighting and the long days of brush clearing, but the warm food does help him feel better. He glances around the room to see how everyone else is doing, and croaks out a question.

"Is everyone alright? Do we need more soup, or blankets?"

Phineas sets a large platter of freshly toasted Halfling bread smothered with honey on the Inn's central table.

"Well, Timmean, at least there is plenty of room to plant a garden behind the Inn!"

*it's been two days since the blizzard started and now has started to calm down*

The Halfling Tavernkeeper has been busy with indoor chores: keeping the stew pot full and mulling cider over the stove, doing a little baking and trying to keep the locals fed and comfortable while the storm runs it course.

*by this time the blizzard has calmed down and the waterfront is now visible from the inn and there are considerable drifts all around the inn*
