Re: Phineas is keeping the Tavern warm and welcoming
Phineas nods attentively while listening to Joy’s description of her knowledge and her set of skills.
“Well, the local wildlife can be quite interesting!” the Halfling states with some amusement in his voice. “if you can catch a few of those chicken, I could certainly add them to the menu! As a matter of fact, if you do hunt down some fresh meat, I would be very interested.”
As for the local makers, we have a few Smiths.” He states. “Degren, the Human, may be the best known and most active around here. Degren may be in the market for the right ores. Borin Ironhammer, the Dwarf, does some smithing but seems to be more involved in the Merchant life these days!”
Phineas quickly leaves and returns with a large bowl of crisp red apples, still cool to the touch from the storage cellar.
“Apple?” he asks. Then he continues his response.
“As for Alchemists, Malva the Faun is the head of the local Alchemist’s guild. I do some Alchemy,” Phineas says, “But I spend most of my time looking after the Tavern and brewing, baking and cooking. I did have an apprentice of sorts, another Faun nick-named Horns, but he seems to have disappeared.”
“So, if Malva is in need of supplies, you might be able to set up a business arrangement. Malva should be in the bunkhouse sometime soon. Do you anything with you that you might want to trade with her now?”

Suddenly the door opens and Malva pops out.
"Did somebody say Alchemy?"

Phineas quickly moves to make way for Malva at the table next to Joy then just as quickly returns with a fresh mug of mulled honeymead for the Faun.
“Malva! Let me introduce Joy!” Phineas says, obviously quite thrilled to have another Halfling in the Watering Hole. “Joy, this is Malva!”

Re: Phineas is keeping the Tavern warm and welcoming
Joy takes one of the apples and begins eating it.
"Hello Malva! And yah, I did say alchemy. Ve have zings to discuss."
Joy takes another bite from the apple she is holding.
"So. I have a particular set of skills, skills zat I have been using since I took my first steps as a tiny babby halfling, OK? Skills zat make me a dream for people like you. If you don't vant any ingredients, zen ve probably don't have very much to talk about. But if you do, I vill look for zem, I vill find zem, and I vill get zem for you. And maybe you could teach me a few things about alchemy in return. Not much, I do not desire to compete for business in zis town, but zere are certain potions that vould make my job easier. Vat do you zink of zat?

Re: Phineas is keeping the Tavern warm and welcoming
Phineas continues to look after the locals in the Tavern, while spending most of his time at the table with Joy and Malva. So how, he has been able to bake a spiced Partridge Berry sweet-roll drizzled with a light Rose-hip syrup and place it on the table near the two Fae.

"That sounds good. Giant snake skins and giant spider web are the things I need most, although there are many others"

Re: Phineas is keeping the Tavern warm and welcoming
Upon hearing Malva’s request, Phineas cannot help but laugh.
“I didn’t realize that you were having trouble with getting webbing from the gigantic spiders!” Phineas says with a touch of concern. “The cursed spiders do seem to be everywhere around here!”
Phineas looks around the Tavern and lowers his voice.
“As for the skins of giant snakes, I would be careful!” Phineas flatly states. “Worshipping of giant snakes may become more and more of a common occurrence around here.”

"Uhh, vat? Giant snek vorship? Zat iz ze dumbest zing I've heard today. Only ze inzane or ze delusional vould zink any goot vould come out of zat."
Joy turns toward Phineas.
"Ze only goot zing about sneks iz zat you can make boots out of zeir hide. Or armour. Or potions. And eat zeir meat. And if zey are venomous zeir fangs could be harvested."
Joy belches.
"You know, maybe zey aren't ALL bad..."

Re: Phineas is keeping the Tavern warm and welcoming
Malva takes the sweet roll Joy offers.
"It's not that there's not many spider webs, I just use a lot of them. The snakes are, um, yeah... I need them if I want to make health potions though."

Re: Phineas is keeping the Tavern warm and welcoming
Phineas replenishes the wooden platter of jams, jellies, honey and baked goods as well as making sure that the beverages are topped up.
“Malva?” asks Phineas. “Are you in need of anything else? I do have to travel during the next little while on business. Has the Lady Val spoken to you about making Inks?”
The Halfling Tavern-keeper nibbles on a pastry, obviously enjoying the chance to speak with Malva and Joy.
“So, Joy,” Phineas asks. “Are you an alchemist as well as a finder?”

Re: Phineas is keeping the Tavern warm and welcoming
Joy starts to slow down her consumption of the confectioneries that Phineas has been laying before her.
"Ach, I am not. But I vant to become one, yah? I am especially curious in ze fabrication of explosives. You know how hard it iz to dig a Halfling hole on zis island, you need a PICKAXE to break through ze dirt..."

Joy stops eating.
"Vell, zat vas a goot meal. I couldn't possibly eat another bite. Zanks Phineas."
Joy says goodbye to Malva and nods at Hugo. She goes out the door.

"Well, there are certainly a lot of ingredients I could use." Malva pulls her recipe book out of her bag and begins flipping through. "Void mana - I go through those quickly, 'a piece of demon', the eye of a hunter, the 'seventh element', the blood of a level 2 marksman... and I think I can get most other things around here."
