Geology Field Trip

[Lexicus]

It is mid-morning near the Earth Circle. The young elf, Lexicus, sits quietly on a rock while waiting for his friend. Things had been peaceful in the woods this morning (to his knowledge), a perfect opportunity for today's expedition. His eyes close in meditation, listening to the sounds of the wind and the trees.

[Ceridwynn Fildais]

Ceridwynn yawns as they approach the circle, stretching. They blink and smirk as they see Lexicus, perfect oppurtunity to sneak up and spook him! They carefully tiptoe up behind him, a small spider in their cupped hands.

[Lexicus]

Lexicus breathes deeply. Unaware of the approaching faun and their eight legged friend.

[Ceridwynn Fildais]

They hovering their cupped hands over the elfs head before gently moving their hands apart. The spider startles as its perch is disturbed and it slips, hanging from a silk thread in front of Lexicuss face.
Ceridwynn grins "Heeeey Lexicus!"

[Lexicus]

Lexicus smiles before opening his eyes. "Good morning Ceridwy-", he stops as he sees the dangling spider instead of the faun he expected. His eyes go wide and he jolts back in surprise. After a moment of recovery he manages a smile. "Lovely friend you have there."

[Ceridwynn Fildais]

"Right? Shes adorable" They scoop up their spider friend. "So, ready for a woods walk?" The faun puts thr spider in a tiny cage strapped to their hip.

[Lexicus]

"Yes, of course" he says, standing up and grabbing his staff. He steps toward the earth circle to drop a mana in before leaving. After, he turns to Ceridwynn, "Alright, you know these woods better than I do. Lead the way."

[Ceridwynn Fildais]

Ceridwynn doesnt need any more coaxing, hopping up the path and into the woods. "Alright, what do you know about geology?" They stop at stones leading to the Fairy circle.

[Lexicus]

"Not a good deal I'm afraid. I know it is a useful field of study for both smiths and alchemists. I'm interested in an ore known as gnessite in particular." He stops when Ceridwynn does, looking around the trail but unsure of what he's even looking for. He turns back to the faun, patiently waiting.

[Ceridwynn Fildais]

"Hm...ok. Well. This is a rock" They grab a pebble. "Some rocks, when you crack them open, have super useful stuff for alchemy or smithing. Different ores form through different processes but most form deep below the surface. Theyre most easy to find when the veins of ore end up at the top, so we dont have to chip much rock away to get to it. You usually catch a little glimpse of differences in the rocks before you discover ore itself."
They dart off further into the woods

[Lexicus]

Lexicus listens intently to Ceridwynn's every word. He takes his eyes off the faun as he reaches into his bag for a notebook and pencil. He begins jotting down notes, but as he looks back up to hear more, Ceridwynn had already put some distance between them. He quickly stuffs the notebook and pencil back in his bag. "Perhaps notes should come later." he says to himself before trying to scramble after his teacher, trying not to trip on every other rock and root.

[Ceridwynn Fildais]

Ceridwynn finally stops at Fairchilde Grove, hopping between the rocks "Lexicus cmooooooooon!"

[Lexicus]

Lexicus hops over a small puddle. After taking a second to catch his breath, he takes a drink of water and crosses the grove to follow Ceridwynn. "I'm coming."

[Ceridwynn Fildais]

Ceridwynn continues to hope between the rocks till Lexicus gets there. "Ok ok, this is a good place for gems and ores and such. A good way to find is to look for variations in the rocks"

[Lexicus]

Lexicus adjusts his spectacles and looks around. He leans his staff against a tree and brings himself lower to the ground to get a better look.

[Ceridwynn Fildais]

Ceridwynn searches around the rocks before suddenly waving at Lexicus "Cmere!" They kneel down next to a darker patch in the rocks.

[Lexicus]

Lexicus approaches Ceridwynn. He comes in close and kneels next to them.
