Kez stays up for nothing.

[Kez Shiras]

Kez sits in the inn, yawning lazily long after the final inngoers have gone to bed. He sips from his teapot, hoping the cold water will keep him awake a little. Normally he doesn’t struggle this much to stay awake, but everyone has had a long day and have long since retired for the evening.

Not Kez Shiras.

He feels a crisp gust of winter air blow in through the door, and his eyes quickly dart over to his alchemy kit. A sigh of relief. It’s safe, as per usual. In its normal place, in its normal state.

He’s getting restless to try, but he wants to be sure it’ll work. “Two people to impart one state. It takes a village, I guess.” He laughs to himself.

“Hopefully… no, maybe it’s time.” It’s nearly impossible for him to force himself to actually follow through. He’s not used to psychic energy, so he’s keeping a small bucket next to him just in case.

He takes a deep breath, and then he casts his line. His mental reach expands, vastly through the neural network created by night, searching and searching for… there’s nothing. He pushes a little harder to find the bubble of unconsciousness he needs, but he just can’t.

He overextends, and suddenly he’s thrown back into his own mind. He’s almost knocked off his chair with motion sickness, and takes a second to cool off. Cool off. He needs night air. Kez jumps from his seat, and stands outside.

There’s a light breeze, but it does well to keep him grounded in his physical and mental reality. A light snow is falling, and Kez just stands and watches. He’s a bit frustrated at the failed Send Dream, but quickly finds a fondness for the world outside, and the happiness he holds on to.  

Kez goes to bed content, and vows to try again soon.
