A bright morning by the forge with Borin

[Torvallis!]

[July 12, 11am]

"Morning Borin!", called Torvallis!, breaking the hours silence that had stretched between them at the forge in the wee hours of the morning.

"I've finished another set of gloves, what do you think of these ones? Bartholomew thinks the wood strips look good, but Cyanide thinks they'll just make my hands set afire more easily. What do you think? I think it matches my rat leather pouches very nicely, don't you?"

Borin walks around a plume of yellow smoke created by fresh coal. "They look alright lad, but I wouldn't te tell ye how protective they were." Borin is lost I thought for a second then he zones back in. "I've gone an idea but yer not gonna like it... put yer hand on the anvil." He says as he unbelts his hammer.

[Torvallis!]

"Errrrr, Cyanide says this is much more of a leatherwork project than a smithing project. I've been teaching myself for a very long time!", Torvallis! gestured towards their shoddily made twine-bound rat fur pouches.


"As for protection, I was rather hoping to test that out while you show me how one does a bit of melee grappling"

[Borin Ironhammer]

"I see, well lets move somewhere safer before we get started, I don't want no one gettin' thrown in the fire." When they were safely in the field borin took his grappling stance. "Ye need te take a firm stance and be rooted in the ground. When yer grappling, in order to move someone else ye need te make yerself unmovable. That's why yer stance is so important, if someone breaks yer root then you wont be unmovable and they'll have ye pinned before ye know it. The trick is to stand back and use yer opponents strength against them. When they uproot te strike ye keep yer stance and direct all their momentum towards the ground. Then all ye gotta do is hold'em there."

"Alright, so let's see . . . I take a firm stance and pretend I'm an earth mage", Torvallis! crouched down like they were taking a dump, "And make myself immoveable".

Torvallis! stood there for a few seconds.

"Oh! Er, how is it I provoke someone to strike me? If they're attacking it's all well and good, but what if they have a good forward stance, or I'm the one aggressing them?"

"And Cyanide wants to know: So how could I use, say, my hands being on fire, if they were, say, on fire?"
