A New Arrival

[Chell (Saheeli)]

A silver and Sandy Beige Arluru makes her way into town from the direction of Applevale. Her powerful Aura manifests around her in the form of thin crooked arms ending with jagged, clawed hands. The torque around her neck and bracelet on her wrist glow to those aware.

Seeing what appears to be an inn, she heads inside. She takes a look around to see if anyone is present.

[Kuromori, Taka]

A black-clad young woman sits at the corner of a table, eating a slice of meat pie. Any psychic would note that she has quite a psychic aura about her. Two enormous metal shuriken rest at her side.

[Chell (Saheeli)]

Saheeli approaches and offers a small bow. "I take it this is the public tavern? I don't suppose you know if there are rooms for rent? I might be staying a while." Saheeli moves to take a seat near the woman. "I'm Saheeli, what may I call you?"

[Kuromori, Taka]

She looks up.
"Yes, this is a public tavern. If you'd like to rent a room you should speak to the innkeeper, Phineas, or the cook, Hasan."
"My name is Taka."

[Chell (Saheeli)]

Saheeli smiles. "It's a pleasure Taka. I've come to study the anomaly between the material plane and the Land of the dead. Are their any dedicated scholars or researchers in town you wouldn't mind pointing me towards?"

[Kuromori, Taka]

"The best I could point you towards is a visitor to this town: Sophie. But to the best of my knowledge, she's already there researching. After her would be myself and the others she escorted on a trip there almost a moon ago now; those would be Lady Valeria, Bikbun, and Timmean. I myself just learned to travel there, and I believe Lady Valeria in particular did some research on planes on the trip. 
Perhaps we could go find them, I'd like to hear what you have to say about this anomaly."

[Chell (Saheeli)]

"I've heard that this island lies on the border of the material plane and the land of the dead. I've heard that somewhere on the island this border manifests physically and I'd like to know more. I'm worried that this could be used as a conduit of necromancy and other abherant magics."
Saheeli removes a skin from her belt and takes a sip of the contents. "So, how close have you gotten?"

[Kuromori, Taka]

Taka listens intently.

"Close... to the border? No, I haven't heard of anything like that, unless it's in Nullisia?"

[Chell (Saheeli)]

"Maybe I've been told a lie. I've heard that some sort of rift or gate has opened on the border between the two worlds. What's Nullisia?"
Saheeli's face scrunches slightly as she tries to recall details of the rumors she's heard.

[Kuromori, Taka]

"Oh, the rift? Yes we have dealt with a rift between planes, but I am unaware of any connection that might have had with the Land of the Dead.

Nullisia is what many have described as a massive storm in the center of the island. From my understanding of Lady Valeria's research in the Land of the Dead, it is a place where many planes connect. She would know more about it than me."

[Chell (Saheeli)]

"I'd like to meet this Lady Valeria. Perhaps we can compare observations." Saheelis focus seems to shift. She traces a finger along part of the woodgrain tattoo that crosses her face. "What else has been happening here? A sailor who I travelled with was talking about black and white devils that come out of nowhere. Clearly their ship had sustained heavy damage. Do you know what that might be about."

[Kuromori, Taka]

"Yes, we could go check and see if she's in her tent.

I'm not sure about any black and white devils... Well I can certainly think of some white beings -- rift creatures -- but there shouldn't be around any more now that we've dealt with the rift. 

The rift is our most recent happening here. We lost some of our elemental circles and the faerie circle was closed off. Many townsfolk's magical items have stopped working; I'm surprised your's are still magical."

[Chell (Saheeli)]

"I'd love to pay her a visit if you'd lead the way. As for my items, perhaps it's because they don't draw their power from this isle? They were made in the frontier. I'm surprised that you have elemental circle it here, must be an interesting connection of leylines."

[Kuromori, Taka]

"Leylines, huh?" She gets up and gestures for Saheeli to follow. "That sounds familiar, but I'm not sure..."

[Chell (Saheeli)]

Saheeli follows.

[Morpha]

*Morpha has been staring vehemently into a glass of water during this conversation*

*When Saheeli says "...anomaly between the material plane and the Land of the dead...", they start paying a little attention*

*When Saheeli brings up leylines, they turn to face Saheeli*

"Whats a leyline?"

[Chell (Saheeli)]

((note that Saheeli has left the inn, but we can say she returned later to continue the conversation!))
Saheeli reenters the tavern, she turns her attention to Morpha. "Pardon my absence. A ley line is a channel of magical energy on the material plane. They span the world, and where they interested you tend to find magical anomalies, like elemental circles."

[Morpha]

(( was going to follow along, but, eh, what ever. We'll just say Morpha went back to starting at that glass of water))

*Morpha puts the glass of water to a side*

"I never introduced myself. I'm Morpha, and I came here to Holdfast to study this place as well. Are you able to see these key lines? Can you draw power from them?"

[Chell (Saheeli)]

Saheeli extends a hand to Morpha. "Well met Morpha, I'm Saheeli. The leylines aren't exactly as tanglible as I might have lead you to believe. They aren't exactly a source of power themselves, but their intersections are anamalous and can be sources of power. For example I'm able to draw magical energy from elemental circles."

[Morpha]

*Morpha shakes hands*

*they frown a little*

*sigh* "We are still recovering from the loss of our water and earth circles.. my own magic has been hampered greatly. Everyday we have been meditating over the circles to rejuvenate them, but it is a slow process.."

[Chell (Saheeli)]

"Have you tried a restoration Ritual?"

[Morpha]

*A look of hope appears on Morpha's face*

"What is a restoration Ritual?"

[Ardin Gallagher]

Entering the inn, Ardin gives a quick survey of the patrons before noticing the new Arluru. Doing a double take to make sure it's not one he knows of, the weaponless human dressed in Confederate attire approaches. Waiting as to not interrupt Morpha's conversation, Ardin gives a slight bow and speaks in crude but passable Arluru.

"Hanyoo, rakta, shoulta atta Holdfast. Yste Sir Gallagher, kvu pu?"

[Translation: "Hello traveller, and welcome to Holdfast. I'm Sir Gallagher, who might you be?"]

[Morpha]

*confused look*

"... Ardin, what did you just say?"

[Chell (Saheeli)]

Saheeli addresses Morphas question first. "I've heard of rituals that can be performed to instantly recreate a circle, we had one back home not long ago to recreate the local water circle."
She turns her attention to the human.
"Well met Sir Gallagher. I'm Saheeli, a traveler from Carreg Wynn, a small town on the frontier."
