Re: The sun, devoured

Kez feels warmth return, those watching see the magics return and in a moment of passionate spite, the likes only known by Lord Fire himself, a torrent of fire blazes out of the circle and into the sky, scorching all around. Everyone within a 20ft radius of the circle has their clothes burned off in almost a cartoonish fashion.

[Dog]

Dog rushes to the Fire Circle, in a state of confusion and more than a little fear. He was inside when the eclipse started, and so his first exposure to the fact that anything weird is happening is when he sees a giant pillar of fire light up the sky. The fact that the sun appears to have... Gone out? also doesn't exactly reassure him.

Upon making it to the Fire Circle, his first instinct is to check if anyone's hurt, find out what's going on, etc, before he notices the state of undress of the majority of people gathered around. That only throws him off for a few seconds though, before he moves back into damage control mode.

"Okay, Kez is here so that means hopefully at least some of this was on purpose. Does anyone know what's going on? Also, I can go get you guys cloaks or something if you want."

[Drixar]

Drix, who is now in a ball adverting his gaze from everyone and thing. “A cloak would be great. The sun went away and the fire circle almost did too, I think it’s fixed though.”

[Dog]

Dog shrugs his own off, and drapes it around Drixar's shoulders.

"Yeah, that sucks! It's fixed though? At least?"

"Here, give me one second."

Dog jogs back to the inn, getting blankets from the comfy corner and spare cloaks that he knows aren't in use, and quickly heads back to the Fire Circle, distributing the warm coverings to the various shivering Holdfasters.

[Ivy]

Ivy, previously occupied with cooking lunch, took a moment to step outside and see what was up when the sky turned black. With his helmet on and an essence mana clutched in his fist, he scans the treeline for the source of the anomaly.

Seeing the burst of fire, Ivy bolts into the forest, expecting the worst.

"Is anyone hur-" Ivy starts, finding everyone as their nakedness.

"Um.."

"Anyone want my apron?" Ivy is already untying it and tipping his helmet down slightly, doing his best to censor people's upper and lower halves.

[Zero.]

“What in the f-“

Zero stops dead in her tracks as she saunters into the forest. She’d been enjoying a quiet moment at her circle when she heard the commotion - panicked voices moving from the steps of the inn into the woods. As she stepped past the treeline, a blaze of flame rose in the distance.

Her pace quickened, the sky was growing dim, and quickly. A shiver took hold of her as she pressed on. Was she losing her vision? Why was everything suddenly so dark?

Eventually she makes her way to the group by the fire circle, as the snow-covered ground fades to ash at her feet.

A deep sigh escapes her lips, as she looks to her bag, to a haphazardly-tied bandage, before looking around to assess the situation.

“Guys… what?”

[Ryn]

Suddenly naked, Ryn shrieks. she shrieks at the top of her lungs. wearing only her magical boots and a pair of socks that have been scorched beyond the cuff of her boots, she darts into the woods. She leaves this group of similarly naked people in an absolutely panic, like a cat gone feral, and darts over to the fairy circle. She hears the voices of people making their way down to access what has happened. Ryn, who is nervous wreck, finds near-immediately solace as she sees that her blankets are right infront of the former ring, where she’d left them. the blankets are covered by a light dusting of dry snow, which is easily enough to shake off. Once she’s covered, she checks her whiskers. they’re there? good. checks her ears. they’re there. GOOD. For the first time, the fire circle has left her colder than she was beforehand. theres a first time for everything, and she sure as shit hopes there isn’t a second.

[Gull]

Gull, shaky and tearful with relief, laughs at the commotion. "You madman, you really did it. You brought back the sun!" Shivering but too elated by the success to be embarrassed, he wraps his arms around Kez and covers his cheeks in kisses.

[Kez Shiras]

Kez takes very well to the hugs and kisses from Gull, still incredibly dazed from the lash of flame that just engulfed the lot of them. He’s unshocked at the cacophony of voices, understanding that a stir was definitely caused.

“Uhh, yeah! Yes. This was intentional, and I would love a cloak.”

Kez smiles to himself, seeing the wet grass in the 20ft circle surrounding the Fire Circle. He did it. With his friends.

[Sage (Cast)]

Francis stretches through a yawn as he walks out of the surprisingly empty inn, curious about the commotion happening in the woods. Shortly after stepping out the door, he stops, having only just noticed that the sky seems to be rapidly brightening from an uncanny darkness.

"Oh! I guess the eclipse was today," he mutters to himself. "Damn, I guess I missed it"

A smile shows on the young bishop's face as the distant and panicked shouts turn to jubilant cheers.

Turning back towards the warmth of the inn, he comforts himself with his usual optimism.

"Ah well. Maybe I'll catch the next one."

[Ryn]

Ryn spends the rest of the evening deep in thought, and warming up with friends. She appreciates that while she was very cold today, at least she wasn’t very wet. She makes a mental note: if the water circle is ever under duress like this, avoid it like a plague. It’s a mental note she’ll soon forget.

[Gull]

Gull nods his thanks to Dog as his shoulders are covered with a blanket. Giddy with relief and the surreal feeling of having escaped annihilation, he tramps back to the inn with the others. Later, the celebration is interrupted but undimmed by Francis's casual mention of the real reason behind the sudden darkness. If anything, the hilarity only enhances it.
