The Summer Soltice, and Ryn.
Today, on the summer solstice, Ryn spends her most of her morning and afternoon with her nose in the books, and her hands grazing the etchings of the stone tablets. After some trial and error, and much muttering in a strange language aloud, Ryn emerges from her marathon-study session feeling fairly contented. having had discussions with both Yanna and Dog, Ryn takes a moment to go stretch her legs. She fetches 3 bread buns and she pockets them.
with rather engorged pockets, Ryn approaches Kez. while peering into his alchemy kit, she asks Kez if she could buy some flora from him. She needs something red, and probably like, three of them. He hands her 3 hotplant and hand waives the fee. Ryn, absolutely over the moon to received a Free Thing, replenishes the water in her chalice. Bubbling internally from her perpetual state of excitement, slips out from the inn silently.
out in the field, ryn picks some dandilions. With her intention set on plucking some forget-me-nots, her hawk-eyed search of the field and of the treeline proves bountiful. she grabs a few sprigs of the blue petaled flowers, and heads down to the water circle.
Ryn hardly ever completes the walk to the water circle. it’s long, and winding. despite her best efforts to remain balanced, the rocky terrain results in her walking being, in essence, a constant state of tripping. the long plush grass hides the unevenness of the rocky path. her trip down to the water circle is hardly graceful, managing to get lost a couple of times on her way down. nevertheless, in due time, she finds her way to the circle. it’s looked different, ever since she became aware. However, that circle is not what she’s here for today.
being careful not to step in any mud, or in any puddle, Ryn cautiously walks downstream. She bushwhacks (more aptly: bush-avoids) until she finds a more solid clearing.
She sits before the stream, on rock. She holds her dandelions, her forget-me-nots, and her hotplant in hand. Before she places her flowers in the river, one by one, she begins to speak. Hopefully, not only to herself.
“nimi mi li Nilun.”
“tenpo pini la mi olin ala e sina.”
“tenpo lon la sina li pona tawa mi”
“nordin o jo e kasi e pan”
she takes a moment of pause.
“mi wile pana e kasi tawa sina.”
“kasi jelo…”
she places her dandelions in the stream.
“kasi laso…”
she places her forget-me-nots in the stream.
“en kasi loje…”
she places her hotplant in the stream.
“mi wile pana e pan tu wan tawa sina”
she places each of the 3 buns, whole, in the stream.
She waits for a moment in silence.

Re: The Summer Soltice, and Ryn.
After a moment or so of intentional silence, Ryn fetches her hempen necklace from her breast pocket. The air is warm, and she can hear nothing but the trickle of the stream. She finds the scenery rather meditative, and so she meditates. the pendant of her hempen necklace is a silver bell, in the shape of a little gnome. its a tiny bell, so it’s ring may be little shrill to some. Ryn however, finds it incredibly grounding.
After 10 minutes of meditation passes, she continues for another 10, hardly noticing the time passing by her. She meditates for another 10, when she finally feels full.
30 minutes of meditation later, Ryn packs up. Chalice in hand, necklace in breast pocket, she strolls upstream. She walks, carefully evading bushes and puddles and mud, until she finds the water circle. from there, she walks a straight shot up the path. Or at least, she tries to, anyway. she loses the path and bushwacks her way back up to town. As she clears the woods and walks through the field, she waves to her friends. They’re all eating dinner on the deck upon her arrival, and she is quick to fetch her supper and join them.
This was the first time she participated in a Nordin summer solstice ritual. It was as rewarding as it was calming, and it may not be the last she performs.
