Killick leaves
As night closed on another eventful day in Holdfast Killick sat restless at a table as new friends debated their new opportunity to defeat Nero. As he listened to them question just how far they'd be willing to go he argued stormily with the people at the table. Those sleeping in their bunks who overheard might have struggled to place the voice, louder and more emotional than had yet been heard from the kin. In the oppressive dark they made their departure, the eggs Gull had given him bundled to his chest, the staff Corrin had forged for him after Knife taught him to use one clutched in hand, the bandages Rosco had trained him to use in his bag, beside the notebook filled with scribbled improvements he had yet to show Zero. He repeated to himself the same thing he'd been saying since the moment he'd arrived there- the people of Holdfast were stupid.
As the days passed he did not return.

Rosco doesn't let anyone else use Killick's bunk. It's not hard for him to help direct visitors to somewhere different; the bunk still smells of salt water and that itself seems to deter anyone from even asking about it.
Next to the pillow is a neatly folded letter with Killick's name in ink. The text on the inside is printed rather than written in cursive, knowing the recipient is still learning how to read. That doesn't matter much, considering the inside of the paper only has two words;
"Welcome home."

Re: Killick leaves
After several days of bottom of the sea pacing and stress weaving Killick made their way back toward Holdfast and waited for the rain. Blended they'd be less likely to be noticed and they had no desire to actually speak with any of Holdfast's denizins. Just slip in through the back left bunkroom window to leave a note and a woven trinket where he knew Rosco to sleep.
The note in his own room was left unseen and untouched.
