What did the Sun hide?

[AD]

A few hours have passed since the eclipse and the panic around it, evening has settled quite nicely at this point. Off in the distance a long, feral howl breaks the evening, followed by another long, feral howl in response.

[Gull]

For the second time that day, Gull feels his blood run cold. Wanting to believe he didn't hear what he just heard, he makes his way out of the inn and onto the deck. Then he pauses, holding his breath to listen.

[Drixar]

Drixar, hearing the noises and watching from across their table as the colour drains from Gulls face, shuts his book as slow and quiet as he can. When his friend gets up he follows, quickly snagging his weapon from its resting place against the wall.

[Rudi]

Rudi is drawn out of the Inn the moment she hears howling, thinking it's one of her pack members for the briefest moment. She goes outside to listen but.. no, that's wrong.

She lays a hand on Drix and Gull's shoulders, both hands occupied as she strains to listen.

[Rook]

Hearing the blood curdling noise, Rook quickly checks to see that the back doors to the inn are secure and, staff in hand, starts to rally those still awake. As the others are kitting up he falls in place beside Gull, eyes straining for the tree line, adjusting to the evening light.

[AD]

A chill settles as Rook and Gull swear they see movement in the trees.

[Rook]

Rook steps slightly ahead of Gull, staff held out in an offensive stance. He speaks quietly to the others on the deck, "Get ready to run for the door..."

[Zero.]

From indoors, Zero hears… some sort of commotion going on outside. She snatches her armor from the pile beside Corin’s forge, swings her trusty blade across her shoulder, and makes her way to the deck to join the others.

“What now?” her lips curl into a smirk through the dark.

[Drixar]

Drix turns his head to Zero, entering a defensive stance himself. He speaks barely above a whisper. “Howling in the woods. Don’t know where or what. But it’s loud.”

[Gull]

"Treeline." Gull points. "You don't see it?"

[Rudi]

Rudi notices Rook and Drixar go into a battle stance and silently focuses her energy to give both Drixar and Gull a trance. She squints into the darkness, trying to see what the others are.

"I thought it was one of my pack members at first, yknow? But I realized pretty quickly that it didn't seem.. I didn't recognize it."

[Zero.]

“Hm.. alright.” Zero makes her way between the benches to lean over the railing, training her eyes on the treeline.

[Gull]

Gull softly sings a verse of Hello to Holdfast, giving Drix and Zero some additional vitality. (Simple Life: 25 temp HP)

[AD]

The howling starts again, closer and closer it comes. The trees seem to rustle, whether by wind, beast or terror. *Rudi, something feels psychically off* *Gull, your minds eye sees the moment Rosco almost died over a year ago*

[Gull]

"The werewolves." Gull's eyes go wide. "The division. Shit!" He turns to Rook. "We need to fall back, NOW."

[Rook]

Rook tightens his grip on his staff, "This is it folks, get ready for whatever's coming!" He holds position beside Drixar to allow the others to enter the inn first.

[Drixar]

Drixars whole body tenses. “So. This is when we go back inside and tell people to hurry the fuck up yeah?”

[Kez Shiras]

Kez hears the commotion outside, and joins to see everyone standing VERY still on the deck. He whispers stopping dead in his tracks in the doorway. “Uhhh… guys? What the *fuck* is happening? Ope, shit- uh, fuck.”
He fumbles briefly for a fire mana, just in case.

[Rudi]

Barely biting back the urge to howl in response out of habit, Rudi watches the trees like a hawk and shifts her weight to be able to bolt if she needed to. The railing of the deck was close enough to get herself down if she needed to.

Rudi shivers, partly from the cold, partly from the change in psychic energy. "Something is off, psychic wise. What if it isn't real?"

[Gull]

"It's fucking werewolves!" Gull freezes abruptly. "Talia. Where's Talia?" Without waiting for an answer, he bolts into the inn and sprints to her bunk.

[Kez Shiras]

Kez pushes to the front of the formation, readying his arms.

[Dog]

Dog bursts out of the inn, slower than the others. He's been resting.

He arrives just in time to hear Rudi's comment about it not being real, and recalls the ritual of the psychic circle.

"Rudi might have a point. When we were putting the Circle down, enemies from our past fights showed up, like the queen spider, and the dollface. Be on your guard anyways, but this *might* just be a psychic projection."

He readies his grip on his sword.

[Rook]

Rook speaks in a low voice so only Kez and those at the front can hear him, "We should advance to the stairs, if we're going to have to fight this thing I'd rather not risk it rushing past us into the inn."

[AD]

The Howling is LOUD. Louder than it should be, as if it was happening on the porch. Ethereal figures appear, human at first, before transforming. Shaggy hair shoots out, fangs and claws grow, eyes change and humanoid wolves stand before you all in the ethereal. The transformation that took place could only be described as painful but practiced. You all watch as these four beings start to fight invisible foes one last time.

[Rook]

Rook jumps back, keeping distance from the spectral creatures. He shudders remembering the the battle the wispy figures were reenacting.
