A Messenger in town
((OOG Timestamp: October 15/2014, 10:30am))
(Trotting up the main field and to the inn, a familiar, green sashed figure, pokes her head into the inn door)
"Hello? Anybody home? Messengers Guild!"

Re: A Messenger in town
Phineas Pennefeather, the Halfling proprietor of the Watering Hole Tavern, looks up from his work from behind the half counter separating the kitchen area from the main tap-room.
“Come on in, my friend and have a rest,” he says. “Sit by the fire, if you want, and take a load off of your feet!”
Phineas takes a small wooden bowl, ladles it full of the simmering fish and onion soup, and sets it down in front of the familiar messenger.
“Eat and warm yourself up, “ he continues. “Who do you have letters for today?”

Re: A Messenger in town
(Her face lights up at the soup and she heartily accepts the bowl. Picking a spot that is central to the sitting area, she sits down to enjoy the soup)
"I don't have letters as much as I have messages and inquires. I'm looking for Timmean and...Vo...lk? I think his name is Volk, maybe Folk, he dresses in black and was all over the place the last time I was here. Have you seen either around?"
(The messenger has a spoonful of soup and her whole body visibly relaxes"

Re: A Messenger in town
(The messenger has another spoonful soup while staring at the fire mage)
"That's...good. I guess. What about the other bloke? The one in black, he was with you last time, rambling about the empire. Do you know where he is? Also where's 'out back'?"
(The messenger continues eating the soup while waiting for answers)

Re: A Messenger in town
Timmean strolls into the inn, his gaze quickly finding the halfling innkeeper.
"Ah, Phineas! Something I forgot to discuss with you earlier, regarding that ax..."
His voice cuts off abruptly as he notices the messenger seated at the table. His eyes widening and his pulse suddenly racing, Timmean takes a slow step forward.
"Ah, welcome back. Do you... have any news?"

Re: A Messenger in town
(The messenger puts down her spoon when she sees Timmean)
"I don't have any letters for you, yet. I do have a location. Town West. It's on the other side of this island, westward, as the name suggests. Does that help?"

Re: A Messenger in town
Timmeans's jaw drops; after a few moments of stunned silence, he manages to stammer out a question.
"That... that's where she is? Where the last letter came from?"
"That... that's where she is? Where the last letter came from?"
Re: A Messenger in town
"That's where the last letter came from and I'm assuming she is still there as I got no other information, though it is hard to look for someone you've never seen and only have a base description to go off."
(rummaging through her bag, the messenger pulls out some paper and writing implements)
"Do you want to send another letter?"

Re: A Messenger in town
Borin walks in, tired and sweaty from a hard day of work. He places some gems on the counter. "I want a full meal and a keg of ale." He says walking to a table and sitting down. He notices the newcomer and asks "and who are you?"

Re: A Messenger in town
(The messenger looks mildly startled from the sweaty dwarf and turns her attention to him momentarily, paper still in her hands)
"I'm from the Messenger's Guild! I had been tasked by Timmean to get him some information. I've been to this inn before...though the location keeps changing. You guys initially met me by saving me from a wild bear. Then you saved me from bandits...with some burns along the way...I think." (She rubs her throat in hazy memory) And just a few weeks ago, I actually had letters to deliver to a couple of you." (Looking at the dwarf hopefully.) "I've been around as it were."

Re: A Messenger in town
(shooting a side glance at Torvallis!, the messenger responds)
"Ya, I don't think your love marks were intended for me that time. Pretty sure they were meant for the guy with the sword at my throat."

Re: A Messenger in town
((OOG Borin, you are double sending and I don't know why))
(the messenger smiled weakly)
"It's ok, the messages and mana were safe at the end of the day. Sometimes fast legs aren't fast enough. Though it's likely to happen again, I really hope that it doesn't."

Re: A Messenger in town
Timmean nodded, still somewhat stunned.
"Thank you, Borin, I'll stop by the forge a little later to pick it up."
Turning back to the messenger, he let out a long breath before reaching out to take the paper.
"I most certainly do; thank you. I'll have it ready for you shortly. Oh, before I do, though... do you know if my first letter ever reached her?"

Re: A Messenger in town
(Her head snaps back at Timmean and she finishes handing him the paper)
"I believe it did...(her eyes are closed in thought and her hands are acting out her thoughts)ye...yes, I almost certain that it did. It made it back to the location the first letter was initially sent from and you had put a name on it, so that means that our guild would still have the letter if there was no one by that name to accept the letter and we don't (her eyes furrow) I don't think we do...(her eyes pop open and she looks at Timmean) No. We don't have the letter but we also don't have another letter from the initial recipient, so it looks like they haven't written one yet."
(Looking at Timmean, she asks,)
"Does any of this help?"

Re: A Messenger in town
Timmean tilts his head slightly, then crouches down, leaning toward the messenger. His face is inquisitive, wondering about this strange display.
"You... what did you do there? You can't possibly know about every letter, everything that goes on within your guild... can you?"

Re: A Messenger in town
(The messenger looks back at Timmean, slightly concerned)
"What did I do where? I talk with my hands sometimes, was that it? It helps me to concentrate. I'm sorry, I know it looks weird."
(She starts eyeing the people around her, seeing if she can sense hostility, her eyebrows knitted in concern and worry)
"I don't know everything, just what I need to know and you are my district and my client, so I need to know. It's how I work..."
(She starts to make herself smaller as her cheeks and ears blush brightly)

Re: A Messenger in town
Timmean takes a step back, raising his hands and smiling apologetically.
"I'm sorry, it just... looked, and sounded, like you were, ah... somehow getting information from somewhere else. I've seen a lot of people with strange abilities since I wound up here. I'm even trying to learn a few of them, and I'm always watchful for potential new teachers."
He chuckles, taking another step back as he realizes he was starting to ramble.
"Relax, I was just a bit mixed up. Anyway! That information certainly is helpful. I'll get this letter written as soon as I can!"
Timmean takes the paper and sits down at a nearby table. Taking the pen in hand, he begins to write, but only makes it as far as the greeting. As he tries to work out what best to say, the multitude of questions from the past few weeks start to well up in his mind. He takes a deep breath, slowly mulling over each one, considering how best to address everything: every fear, every suspicion, every question. Finally, after deciding on what to say, he grips the pen again and begins to write.

Re: A Messenger in town
(the messenger takes a couple of deep breaths before furiously rubbing her ears and cheeks, in hopes of stopping the blush. After a few moments, she stops and turns her attention back to the soup, her ears and cheeks, redder than ever.)

Re: A Messenger in town
(the messenger practically buries her face into her bowl at this comment before pulling away in surprise as soup spills all over her front. Getting up too quickly, the messenger falls over the bench she was sitting on. Letting out a small yell, she lands on her back. Standing up, her whole face is red as she quietly mutters) "...well then..."
