(Looking at Torvallis!, she quietly answers,)
"Thoroughly Embarrassing myself. Though I didn't think the elemental Lords were into that."

Ira walks into the main room carrying a large sack of potatoes, a fresh loaf of seeded bread, and a cask of ale. The short elf is barely visible behind the mound of goods but can be heard singing softly.

"Pan fyddwch yn meddwl 'ch jyst yn mynd i gysgu, mae'n amser ar gyfer gwaith eto..."

Arriving at bar she carefully places the mound of objects on the counter.

"Phineas I got those potatoes you wanted - Oh hello messenger lady! How are you?" she exclaims enthusiastically.

"Oh dear let me get you a towel!" Ira quickly runs behind the counter to grab a clean bar towel and hands it to the messenger. She then turns to Torvallis! "You speak Elvish?"

"What?!?" Ira stares at Torvallis! in horror at the thought of him burning her fellow Fey and seeing the destroyed villages and tortured remains of the Elves of Scarred Lands in her mind's eye. Furious she hurls the full force of her magic across the counter at him shouting "WITH WATER I DOUSE THIS FIRE!"

"Gaah!" Ira shouts as her trouser leg catches fire. She quickly bats out the flame and glares at Torvallis! feeling the magic crackle around her. With obvious effort she regains her composure and addresses the poor messenger.

"Please forgive me lady messenger, I hope you are not too wet. As for you Torvallis!," she says disdainfully to the pyromancer "isn't there a bit of forest you're supposed to be burning down for Tim with the blessing of Lord Fire?"

Timmean glances up and quickly shakes his head.

"Hang on, not yet. I want to get as many logs out of there as possible before we start the burn. No sense in throwing away perfectly good building material."

As he lowers his eyes back to the half-finished letter, he adds:

"And so help me, Torvallis, if you burn this place down, I'll find a way to encase you in so much earth you'll need a month to dig yourself out."

Phineas ladles another half portion of fish and onion soup into the Messenger’s wooden bowl.

“Maybe a little more onion …?”

Still angry but feeling increasingly embarrassed at the state of the poor messenger lady and her outburst in front of Phineas, Ira ducks down under the counter to get a fresh (and larger) towel for her. She makes a point of fluffing up the fibres secretly under the counter with her air magic before handing it over, an apologetic look on her face.

"Sorry..." she says, her ears drooping slightly and feeling more embarrassed by the minute. "Is there anything else I can get you? Maybe a hot beverage?"

The messenger accepts the towels and proceeds to dry off. After drying off she sits down and looks gratefully at her bowl before attempting to eat again. Between spoonfuls she checks out her bag of soggy paper. Sighing she replies,
"Hot beverage would be nice, got any paper though? Mine seems to have had an accident."
She pulls out her extra paper and envelopes, now all of which are drooping and dripping more than is acceptable for dry paper.

"That's... strangely effective," said Ira, finding it difficult to stay mad with the insane wizard. "If you don't want the herbal tea I think we have some fresh Kaernic Coffee in the back, and, oh look, we have some Empiric Spiced Black Tea as well," she says pulling a jar of tea from under the counter. "I could also try and find you some mulled wine or warm cider, if you'd like something stronger."

Post by Horns Sun Oct 19, 2014 8:42 am

Horns, who had left when Borin came in to fetch the keg of ale, struggled with the weight of it as he walked back into the tavern. He grunted a few times, walking closer to the Dwarf, and finally managed to lay it on the floor next to him. He sighed in relief, grabbed a tankard for Borin to use (Although Horns wasn't entirely sure his friend wouldn't simply drink from the keg, somehow), and dished up some soup and bread. When he finished with his work, he went to sit down, and slipped in a giant puddle. Sighing and rubbing his tailbone, he grabbed a mop and cleaned up the water. Then he noticed the smoking cup, the very uncomfortable messenger, and the rough quality of the formerly-wet paper. He opened his mouth to ask what happened, and then realized he was better off not knowing. Smiling at his strange companions, he instead asked, "Can I get anyone anything?"

The look on Torvalis!'s face was so sweet, Horns bowed his head and said a small prayer to Lord Fire. He'd gotten pretty good at it, after trying to make Torvalis!'s boomy a few times. He finished with a statement about the glory of ash and looked up
"How was that, Torvalis!?" Horns smiled again. "Anything else?"

Biting his lip, Timmean nods once as if to reassure himself, then stands up, folding the letter as he does so. He takes a few steps over to the messenger, slipping the letter into the envelope along the way. He holds out the letter to the messenger, the name "Lynndis Aeros" clearly written on the envelope, but no address. In a quiet voice, he adds:

"Here it is. You said the location was Town West, right? Would it be... alright if I just ask you to remember that? I'd rather not write it on the envelope."

The messenger sat, looking at her, now, rough paper and sighed. Sitting down on a dry section of the bench, she looks at Ira and asks,
"Could I trouble you for the warm cider you mentioned?"
Noticing Timmean, she turns her attention to him,
"Ah looks like your letter got away dry." Listening to his request, she adds, "I can, though there'll be no guarantee that another member won't. We all work in our own ways as much as we work together. Is there any reason you're willing to share?"

Timmean chewed on his lip, not entirely sure how much to say.

"I may just be paranoid, but... I'm worried that the intended recipient might be in hiding. I don't know why, but if she's in danger, I don't want to make it easier for her to be found. I'd rather not have her name and location both written on the same paper."

Timmean sighed and shrugged.

"Like I said, probably just paranoid. But there's a lot going on here that I don't understand, so I'm trying to be cautious."
